Posted on Mon, 22 Dec 2014
Question: doctor,

yesterday i ordered a burger at home. AS SOON AS IT CAME HOME I HEAT IT MILDLY FOR 30 SECONDS BEFORE CONSUMING IT.

i checked the burger and i suspect that there was some semen in the burger mixed with mayonnaise.

i ate the whole burger anyway...now i m worried..i think the burger definitely had semen ...
Also i had cut my lip some one to two hours ago before this incident...i have a habit of chewing my lips...i have extremely minor cuts...
Chances of hepatitis C hepatitis B HIV and Syphylis?

Brief Answer:
No chance of transmission.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for query.I am Dr Bharatesh D Basti answering your query.
There is no possiblity of semen coming in contact with burger. You need not worry about this aspect.
Even if you suspect there is likely chance of semen in burger, there is least or no possibility of transmission of HIV, Hepatitis B & C , syphilis.
They would have heated and you also have heated it so chances of survival of these organism is rare.

These organism are not transmitted by oral route.

Even if you have some cuts they would have either healed or they would have some scab formed .So there is no chance of organism transmission possible.
So you can totally allay fears of these STDs.
Do not get anxious. Forget the episode.
You can get back for any clarification.

but after being delivered..i did mildly heat it for 30 seconds...
What are the chances now hiv, hepatitis C and hepatitis B and syphylis now??

correction" i m not just suspecting there was semen...there definitely was some semen in the burger"

can you explain why...is it because i heated it for 30 seconds ....
but i had cuts??

What about herpes and HPV?
doctor
Answered by Dr. Bharatesh Devendra Basti (24 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Can get tested if you are too anxious.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for follow up query.
The viruses or organisms do not survive for long in outside environment. So in the burger.
You have heated it so can get killed.
These organism do not survive the GI tract. So oral transmission is not possible.
After cut, scab would have formed or bleeding stopped, so cannot get transmitted by this route.
So I consider no risk of transmission of all the organism mentioned.
Do not get anxious.I do not see need for testing.
If you are still anxious there is no harm in getting tested .
You can get back for any clarification.
