Question: Can these medications cause false positive urinalysis. 1. Gabapentin 600mgs TID, 2. Elavil 50mgs @HS., 3. Phenagran PRN, & 4. Ibuprofen 600mgs TID. I have Osteomylitis in my leg, have HAD numerous infections and surgery. They are all prescribed medications. Urinalysis came back positive and I am having a lot of trouble proving my innocence. Brief Answer:
several points.

Detailed Answer:
first the dipstick urine always needs confirmation. False positves run up to 10% and mostly the cause is NOT found. in someone with no history of problems, a hair analysis is the strongest evidence.

Then, false positives depend on what was positive. I'm not sure any of them creoss react with heroin. Elavil is a bit of a stretch for cocaine but perhaps. then over the counter medicines such as decongestants frequently cross react with amphetamine. so, several other possibilities.
