Brief Answer:
Do not give both of Asthalin Dx and Levolin together

Detailed Answer:
Hi... by what you say I feel that your kid might be having a viral associated wheeze.

DO NOT GIVE BOTH ASTHAKIND AND LEVOLIN TOGETHER.

For chest congestion - give Syrup Levolin 5ml thrice a day for 3 days.

For fever - Paracetamol can be given in the dose of 15mg/kg/dose (maximum ceiling dose of 500mg) every 4-6th hourly that too only if fever is more than 100F. I suggest not using combination medicines for fever, especially with Paracetamol.

For cold - you can use Cetrizine at 0.25mg/kg/dose every 12 hourly for 3 days. You can also use Syrup Xyzal 2.5ml twice a day for 3 days.

Levolin and Xyzal are prescription drugs and you will need one for it.

Thank you doctor, I felt so and reduced the dosage from prescribed 3.5 ml to 2 ml on Asthakind dx and 2 ml on levoline. He has not been taking even fluids but tries his best to walk around though weak. He just had few sips of water and nan-pro with porridge of 4 spoons all day. He also had very little urine discharge since yesterday which is hardly once a day. Stools has been like few times and not solid too. I feel it to be a side effect of asthakind which i picked from web. Also, this has been a occurrence from last month and few times since Feb 16.

Can you kindly suggest something to increase his appetite. He is 1.4 years of age and weighs 13.2 kg, we was really doing well till he had these bouts similar to croup.

Brief Answer:
Do not use appetite stimulants - they cause drowsiness

Detailed Answer:
Hi... Greetings from XXXXXXX

Your child though less than 2 years old is weighing morethan a 3 year old kid as per XXXXXXX standards.

I take this opportunity to tell you certain scientific facts and relieve your distress -

1. An active is a well kid even if she/ he is not eating well.

2. Development of a kid is as important as or I would say even more important than growth alone.

3. As the kids grow their interest in food decreases and interest in play activities increases so that they eat small quantity and run away to play. As parents we need to be more patient and feed than less quantity but more aliquots per day.

4. This age rather than the quantity of the food I suggest you concentrate more on the number of times you feed her and also make whatever you feed her calorie dense by adding good amount of ghee to it.

5. I suggest you not to use appetite stimulants on long run as they may cause drowsiness.

Really kind of you doctor.

Given that he had very high fever with wheeze just a month back with a follow up now equally severe should there be any blood test or allergy test taken. Also can we give something like liv-52 for the child. Can we give him electrobion or should we avoid it when he has cold. While he clearly asks for water and milk if needed I feel that the antibiotics has totally killed off his want of any food.

Just to elaborate he had croup related viral in Feb 16, dysentry for almost a week in April 16 which docs said might be due to eating something from the ground when not noticed. Likewise its been like cough fever on Sep 16 and this month.

Brief Answer:
Please answer my question regarding wheeze, I need more information

Detailed Answer:
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. Greetings from XXXXXXX

By what you quote I feel what your kid could be having viral associated wheeze or multi triggered wheeze. I have a few questions for you -

Questions:
1. How many days per month does he cough or feel breathless?
2. How many nights per month does his sleep get disturbed due to above symptoms?
3. Does he feel breathless when he runs around or plays with other kids?
4. Are the symptoms when there are seasonal changes?
5. Is there any family history of asthma or any other sort of allergies like skin allergy etc.?
6. Is the cough always associated with fever?

Please get back to me with answers so that I can guide you better.

Coming to your other queries one by one -

1. No harm in giving Liv 52 you can continue that.
2. Do not give electrobion unless the child has diarrhea and is getting dehydrated.
3. Electrobion does not have any relation to cold.

Dear Doctor

My answers as below

1. How many days per month does he cough or feel breathless? Only when he has cold or fever usually starts with wheezing it had occurred once in sep 16 and once now

2. How many nights per month does his sleep get disturbed due to above symptoms? Only when he has this condition and when he has it he struggles every night with continuous allergic crouping cough late night and early morning

3. Does he feel breathless when he runs around or plays with other kids?
No, too early as he is just 1.4 yrs old

4. Are the symptoms when there are seasonal changes?
Not sure but I am sure he had it when my house went uncleaned for sometime and again when I took him to parents place where it was dusty

5. Is there any family history of asthma or any other sort of allergies like skin allergy etc.? NO

6. Is the cough always associated with fever? Yes and last time it was wheezing then high fever and cough, this time it is cough fever and wheezing in that order

He seems to be down with infective bronchitis and I have carried nebulizer today since he had a bad bout since early morning and it got relieved after nebulization.
Also vomitting occurs when he has this bout of wheezing cough or he gets relieved after vomitting.

He has lost weight by a kg and grown pretty week as this started last sunday. However there has not been any fever since friday but for wheezing and cough.

I was asked to stop asthakind dx yesterday and today was asked to stop levolin since nebulizer is administered every four hrs. His appetite has also been hit and his intake is minimal.

Brief Answer:
Looks like viral associated wheezing

Detailed Answer:
Hi.... from the history which you have given, I feel that this is Viral associated wheezing. These are my suggestions..

Suggestions:
1. There are certainly alternative management therapies in allopathy now-a-days. Medicine has advanced a lot and not asthma is 100% controllable.
2. Inhalers are the newest management strategies for this. If I were your paediatrician I would have suggested the use of Budecort metered dose inhaler (100mcg) 2 puffs twice a day through a spacer and this is for regular use for 8 weeks. Another metered dose inhaler is Levolin and this can used as rescue therapy whenever the kid is having severe cough in spite of regular usage of Budecort. The technique is very important and very crucial for the drug to be delivered correctly to the lungs. Regularity of medicine usage also matters a lot. So do not discontinue abruptly after you notice some improvement. The technique of administering an inhaler using a spacer has to be taught to you by your doctor and these are prescription medicines. So I suggest you consult your paediatrician for this.
3. Triggers can be environmental changes/ dust/ talcum powder/ seasonal changes/ un-cleaned a/c vents/ cold weather etc....we can specifically say this is the cause - unless we observe the kid closely - best person is the parent.
Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.
