Are Nausea, Headaches And Dizziness Signs Of Undiagnosed Chiari Malformation?

Question: Is is possible for a 59 year old to have 'Chiari Malformation' that could have been over-looked or undiagnosed? And if so, could the symptoms slowly begin to increase without proper medical diagnosis and treatment? I have been suffering from unusual symptoms for some time now, (nausea, sudden headaches, dizziness, hearing problems, bad vision problems, very weak neck and arms) and it seems that all I am getting is shots in the neck, spine, and pill after pill. No one really has an answer for it except fibromyalgia. Then someone gave me this Mayo article on Chiari Malformation.

Chiari malformation develops as the skull and brain are growing during childhood, for this reason symptoms may not be present till adulthood.

Diagnosis is achieved by a neurological examination and MRI of brain and upper spinal cord.

Treatment depends on diagnosis and surgery ( posterior fossa decompression) takes an important role in this.

Discuss with your Neurologist/ Neurosurgeon about these issues.
