Brief Answer:
2nd antibiotic is not needed at the moment.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir.

I understand your concern.

You need not go for another antibiotic after using Cipro.

This itself is an efficacious antibiotic given after renal stone removal.

Single course with a single antibiotic is all enough.

We can think of another antibiotic only if catch up new resistant form of urinary tract infection.

Post your further queries,if any.
Thank you.

Sorry, I was not asking if I needed another antibiotic. Methadone and Cipro are known not to get along. I was asking whether I should NOT. Take Cipro due to drug interactions and if another antibiotic would be safer in that regard. Since I spent last night vomiting, I'm guessing my concern is not insane (as the doctor seems to assume).

Brief Answer:
Azithromycin is preferred to Ciprofloxacin.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your query now.

Ciprofloxacin has one significant drug interaction with Methadone.

Hence Monitor Closely through ECG.

ciprofloxacin and methadone both increase QTc interval on ECG causing arrhythmia.Ciprofloxacin elicits minimal effects on QT interval.

Caution for its use is needed in presence of coexisting disorders like heart diseases.

Hence a periodical review is needed.

Azithromycin is a relatively safe drug with Methadone.

You can switch over to it after consulting your doctor.

Post your further queries if any.
Thank you.
