Hello
Welcome to health care magic
Painful bumps which look like pimples over the face could be a lot of things. It could be boils, acne cysts, periporitis etc. As you are getting more new lesions and as mupirocin which is an antibiotic is not helping you it is better to show a dermatologist for accurate diagnosis. You may continue mupirocin till you get an appointment and wash your face with a mild face wash twice daily like cetaphil cleanser for sensitive skin . It is better to avoid any greasy creams on your face and too much sunlight.
Hope this helped
Take care

Pathologist and Microbiologist Dr. Shailja Puri's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,

The bumps on the face can be pimples or acne.
When they become severe, they are filled with pus and are painful.
Mupirocin is an antibiotic ointment. It will prevent development of infection on these bumps.
If there is no change in the bumps you need to visit a dermatologist for clinical examination and appropriate treatment.

Thanks and take care.
