We have been giving Antipsychotic medicines for paranoia without patients knowledge based on doctors advice. Patient with these medicine is doing very fine on the job. He has mild episodes but he is regular at office. How long we can continue. Patient has refused to go to a Psychiatrist.
Termination of treatment in psychosis depends upon improvement of symptoms. In his case, if he stays asymptomatic for years, then, some one try to stop treatment, other wise, he has to take medications for long period. Your patient does not have insight about illness, in that case, better to give him treatment for years.
Thanks
