Will Taking Amoxicillin Be Effective For Sore Throat?
Doctor put me on amoxicillin 2 days ago to help with a cold I have had for a week, since yesterday I have had an incredibly sore throat that feels almost bruised when I talk or cough, could this be dangarous for my baby if I'm due in 4 days? I just don't feel right
Because of amoxicillin's resistance to betalactams (some type of bacteria), it is now advisable to give amoxicilin in combination to clavulinic acid or give cephalasporin (class of antibiotics) which has more effect on strep throat. Normally, amoxicillin should work within the next 2-3 days after initiating treatment for strep throat but if there is resistance, you should experience persistence of symptoms. I suggest you see your doctor for revaluation on day 3. There should be no problem with your baby with he/she is due but your baby risks contamination. I suggest you discuss with your doctor for modification of treatment before your baby is borne.
Hope this helps
