Will Taking Ibuprofen Help Cure Recurrent Intermittent Pericarditis?

I am being treated for recurrent intermittent pericarditis. I have been taking ibuprofen for 5 weeks (600mg tid) and colchicine (0.6mg bid). I had blood work done 3 days ago which showed normalization of crp and esr. I have been feeling good lately, except 2 days ago, a violent bout of coughing (after choking on a glass of water) caused a brief dull cramp to recur deep in the left side of my chest (near the apex of my heart). I m afraid I may have hurt my pericardium and caused the condition to return. 2 days later, the pain is gone but I still feel a little bit of discomfort if I move in a certain way. My cardiologist wants me to taper the ibuprofen starting today. Should I get one more lab done to check for my crp levels just in case the inflammation has returned, or should I go ahead and taper the ibuprofen regardless of the mild pain?
