Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Will It Be Safe To Take Toba Eye Drops To Cure Pus And Watery Eyes?
Dear Doctor,My infant is about 19 days old. Since his birth there were frequent tears in his eyes. and since last week I have observed pus formation in his eyes. I am using Toba Eye drops twice a day, however, do not see any difference. Please advise.
In my opinion the tears in his eyes since birth may be due to naso lacrimal duct blockage. You may massage the inner canthus of his eye from above downwards. In my opinion any eye drops will not be required. The massage will help and by around 3 - 6 months of age it will be alright. if this condition does not cure by 6 months of age the child may need syringing which is a very simple procedure to open the nasolacrimal duct
