Will Abdominal Pain Go Away After Taking Antacids?

For a week I have had abdominal bloating pain in the midriff area, some gas. I went to my gastro doctor he told me to take acid reducers and gas-x after each meal. He is also ordering a ultrasound of my ovaries and pelvic. I know he is checking for ovarian cancer, but when I take acid reducers the pain eventually goes away would it go away with ovarian cancer

Hello,

I understand your concern. The acid reducers work on the stomach, which is the place where the acid is produced. Gases and bloating are produced in the intestines. The pain and bloating in ovarian cancer have a different origin and mechanism. If you experience relief of your symptoms after taking the acid reducers and simethicone (gas-X) then most likely, your symptoms are not related or caused by ovarian cancer. In case of the latest, relief of the symptoms would need way stronger medication.
However, you should undergo all the necessary tests that your doctor has ordered, to rule out any other possibility and receive the best treatment.

Wishing you all the best
