Hello I can understand your concern. What you are describing can be considered as paresthesia, a complication after surgery and local anesthesia. It may happen if the nerve supplying the upper lip and teeth area is injured during injury. I am afraid to inform you that it takes time for the injured nerve to regenerate, sometimes 3-4 months, but can extend up to 6 months to a year. Some signs of progressing regeneration are itching, burning sensation in the area and occasional sharp pains. Massaging the area frequently can help. However, you should keep follow up appointments with your surgeon regarding the healing process and paresthesia problem.
