Why Is My Male Friend's Eyes Always Blood Shot Red?
My seventy four year old male friend always has bloodshot eyes, he says he stopped drinking thirty five years ago. Although I have never seen him drink alcohol I sometimes wonder. He still works full time and is over weight. Can you help me out with this question?

It seems from the history that your friend is having redness of the eyes for long time.
This is called as hyperemia of conjunctiva. The common causes are exposure to smoke dust using alcohol smoking allergies....
Since he has stopped alcohol consumption the other causes needs to be evaluated.
The treatment is by using decongestant eye drops and lubricating eye drops and treatment of the underlying cause.
