Why Does One Suffer From Chronic Pain, Headaches And Numbness Post A C-spine Injury?

Hi I m a 20 year old, 185 pound male who suffered a c-spine injury to the 5th vertebrae last year and continues to suffer from chronic pain, headaches, and numbness particularly on my right side. I m not currently taking any treatments. Should I be concerned about my symptoms and is there any treatment I should explore. Thank you, Jesse

Hi,

Yes, this is something to be concerned about particularly concerning your age. Please mention how much time back did you suffer that injury to your cervical spine? Also kindly mention, what were the symptoms at that time and what treatment you took; and the investigations that were done at that time?

My advice for you is to restrict excessive movement at your neck. A soft collar (hard collar is a bit uncomfortable but restricts motion in a better way) will help in this. A dynamic cervical spine x-ray (that is with flexion and extension views) followed by an MRI cervical spine will help in planning further management.
