Why do i feel better when it rains ?

On an average sunny day i am tired, uninterested, calm, depressed. I don't care to do much more than the average and i am all around just living the day out. On a gray rainy day i have endless energy. I feel more happy than anything. I can concentrate and i get more accomplished. Everything seems so much more alive when it rains. when it's gray the world has more color. i normally have trouble waking up in the morning, i don't drink coffee. If it is raining that morning, i jump up as though i had been up for hours. Im excited to see rainy days coming. When everyone wants to be in i love to be out....why do i feel this way. Why can't i function like this on a regular day... what's wrong with me

More attachment towards the color gray signifies a form of depression. This may or may not be true in this case, but then, how good or bad the person's quality of life during sunny days needs to be assessed. You may require a consultation with psychiatrist to assess your positive and negative symptoms that you experience on normal days to arrive at a diagnosis. Perhaps you are completely normal, or may be suffering from a mild depression that wanes off when its rainy and pleasant..

Hi Derek,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic forum.
The most striking thing from your description seems to be your so called " depression" on the regular days. The fact that everyday is an average day, you have trouble waking up is troublesome and you may need to see a psychiatrist to help you feel energetic and alert everyday. There are several causes of a low mood and these include dysthymia, cyclothymia, depression, bipolar disorder etc. Dysthymia is a condition when the person feels a mild for of depression over a prolonged period of time. When these symptoms get severe, it is known as depression. When these symptoms fluctuate from time to time, most commonly in association with changes in weather, it is known as cyclothymia.
You would need a thorough evaluation by a psychiatrist so as to select the best treatment option for you.
Take care.
