Why Do I Suffer From Pleural Effusions?

I was given a CT for a possible appy. I do not have one but they said I have pleural effusion in both lung. The ER Doc said I needed to follow up with a doc in a month. I am wondering when I should follow up with a doc about it due to no reason of why I have pleural effusions?

There are many causes for unilateral pleural effusion but very few disease cause bilateral pleural effusion. And it is most commonly transudative type. Causes are cardiac failure, hypo proteinemia, cirrhosis of liver, hypothyroidism,pulmonary embolism etc. For bilateral exudative effusion TB is the most common cause with other infection at 2nd level. So consult your doctor and get done ECG, 2D ECHO, S. PROTIENS, S. TSH, USG ABDOMEN etc.
