Why Do I Feel The Heart Flutter Catches My Throat?

Hi, years ago I was diagnosed with ectopic beats, of the good kind apparently, because they disappeared on exercise. Lately, on falling asleep I keep feeling a heart flutter that catches in my throat and I feel like I have to cough to get rid of it. What do you think this is? I am female, 50 yrs.

HI
WELCOME TO HCM.I UNDERSTAND YOUR CONCERNS.
ECTOPIC BEATS ARE COMMON IN SOME NORMAL INDIVIDUALS.YOU ARE RIGHT THAT THEY DONT INDICATE HEART DISEASE IF THEY DISAPPEAR DURING EXERCISE.IN YOUR CASE WHAT I UNDERSTAND IS THESE ECTOPICS ARE INTERFERING IN YOUR DAILY ACTIVITIES.
IN MY PATIENTS WITH SYMPTOMATIC ECTOPICS I START THEM ON TABLET OF BETA BLOCKER GROUP.ALSO I DO THEIR THYROID FUCTION BLOOD TESTS TO RULE OUT EXCESSTHYROID HORMONES.
YOU MAY DISCUSS THESE ISSUES WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN AND TAKE A DECISION WHETHER YOU NEED TREATMENT FOR ECTOPIC BEATS.
WISH YOU GOOD HEALTH!!!
