Why Did My Wife Get Swelling Behind Her Ear After Wearing A New Set Of Glasses?

Wife has new pair of glasses. She has developed some swelling behind her left ear. It makes it painful to wear the glasses. She has had the glasses adjusted, but the swelling has not gone down. I recommended that she go the day w/o glasses and take some Tylenol to try to get the swelling down. Your thoughts?

Hello
It seems from the history that your wife is having swelling behind the ear after wearing new set of glasses.
Glasses usually does not cause swelling, it can be a coincidence.
The causes for swelling can be local skin infections or because of infections of the surrounding structures leading to inflammation of the lymph nodes which lie behind the ear.
The treatment is by use of anti-inflammatory drugs and you can continue using tylenol which is a antiinflmmatory drug containing acetaminophen. Hence I advice you to consult your doctor for examination and treatment accordingly.

Thank you
