Why Am I Experiencing A Sudden Strong Movement In Upper Abdomen While Trying To Lay Down In Bed?
I have been experiencing a sudden strong movement in my upper abdomen when i lay down to go to bed . It only occurs once in a while . I have high blood pressure and asthma . this started to occur since i had a miscarriage two years ago . it is not painful but it scares me .
Sudden strong movement in upper abdomen on trying lay down since miscarriage can be due to the following reasons: Colitis that is problem with transverse colon in particular. Small intestinal problems like sub-acute obstruction. Stomach problems.
Psychological since this has occurred after miscarriage. Hence I would advise you the following in such a situation: Tests of stool. X-ray of abdomen in standing position. Ultrasonography of abdomen. Clinical evaluation by a doctor, preferably by a General Surgeon or a Gastroenterologist.
All these things will help to know the proper diagnosis and a plan of management as needed. If all the investigations are normal and there is no clinical finding then IBS or psychological part needs to be ascertained and treated accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
General Surgeon
