Why Am I Still Feeling Bloated After Taking Metronidazole 500mg?

I was on metronidazole 500mg and drank alot for the holiday weekend all the while still taking the pills. I also doubled a couple of doses to keep up with the regimen. I still feel bloated from the bv and feel symptoms, should I be concerned or should I wait a few days and see how I feel?

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history and understood the concerns.
Metronidazole for BV can cause abdominal discomfort as it kills many bacteria in intestines and cause bacterial flora imbalance.
Hence I would advise you the following:
Continue Metronidazole in the dosages as advised by your Doctor as it is still the drug of choice and thus acts the best for BC meaning Bacterial Vaginosis.
Start taking Pre and probiotics as it can help.
PPI like Pantoprazole if there is gastric upset or increased acidity.
If you get a bad taste in the mouth, this is due to the medicines being secreted in saliva and causing the taste and will stop after you stop the medicine.
So continue at the moment.
