Why Am I Experiencing Palpitations With A History Of Diverticulitis, Gastritis And Acid Reflux?

i have a history of gastritis and acid reflux. i have had my heart checked many of times, and my heart is good.i have had palpatations for 4 months. my doctor says i am fine just dont think about it and the palpations will not come back.i have digestive problems also. i had4 upper GI done they stretched my esofugus. sorry about the spelling.food would go down hard. also i have diverticulosis. doc gave me some bentyl for IBS. I SEEN ON the computer that bentyl is good for palpations. is this true. i do have a little anxiety,and on medication for high blood pressure . i take 1 valium a day. but that dont even work. please help me with this problem its ruining my life. i have paips all day long..thank you

Dear patient,

Thanks for the query. The cause of the palpitations should be ellicited, whether it is an arrhythmia or premature beats, because the treatment and prognosis is different. If the symptoms are daily, a Holter monitor will be a good choice but if they are less frequent an event monitor is advisable. There are medications such as beta blockers that can be used, but first, we need to find out the source.
