Which is the best medicine for a baby having barking cough ?

Hello Hello how are you ? please and new graduate stuff nurse and i`m working in emergency and out patient clinic .... i would like to ask what a good medication should i gave to a baby with barking cough ........

Barking type of coughis diagnosting of croup and is an emergency. You have to immediately check the patency of the airway and treat the baby immediately with oxygen and antibiotics. Also some times immunoglobulins need to be administered if the infection is more. Some times a tracheostomy is also indicated to maintain airway. In case of such emergency consult a ent surgeon who will treat after a good examination and initial stabilisation of the patient. I hope i have answered your query. Take care

it could be a croup . you can provide humidity to the child., like turn on the hot shower in your bathroom and close the door. , hold the baby in your lap and sit in steam room You wilsee some improvement in minutes
