Whats The Treatment For Red Bumps On Tongue?

I have these red bumps on my tounge: toward the back down the middle and now spreading out to the sides. I do have a cold and some post-nasal drip going on, and have been sucking on Halls cough drops too. Is this just irritation, or should I be concerned?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain bumps over the back, middle and sides of the tongue along with post nasal drip and cold seems to be inflamed tongue papillae that contains taste buds..
It does not seems to be serious and can be due to inflammation of tongue secondary to inflammation..It can also be due to irritation caused by cough drops.
I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles and also steam inhalations..
You should limit the intake of cough drops and can take one after every 4 hours..
Avoid spicy foods and sip on plenty of warm water..
If there is pain and soreness you can gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..
For cold you can take decongestants like Phenylephrine, saline nasal irrigation and avoid chilled foods..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
