Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Several years back I was wrongly diagnosed as having typhoid and then administered several injections of chloramphenicol. I was almost gone until my mother insisted that I be treated by another doc who stopped the medicine and somehow revived me. Ever since I dont feel my usual self, especially I feel drowsy during daytime and have a tendency of forgetting. what could be the problem doc?
Hello I have gone through your query and find out that you may have following problem. 1 Anemia , as chloramphenicol causes blood dyscrasia hence develops anemia . Diagnosis can be confirmed by examination of hemoglobin level . If hemoglobin is less than 8 gm , you must take drugs which increase hemoglobin level . 2 Second reason may be that you still have typhoid . As I have seen so many cases act as a carrier of typhoid . Diagnosis can be confirmed by Widal as well serology test in a lab for all four strain of typhoid . Since you mentioned that always there is a feeling of drowsiness so get in blood examination for C B C and lipid profile with LFT ( LIVER FUNCTION TEST ) . In my opinion consult a physician and get his opinion after all tests. Good luck.
