Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 25 years old, I am in the middle of an anxiety attackk what should I do? I take lexapro just switched about a month ago from 20 mg to 10 mg so I am used to anxiety, but have not had an attack in such a long time.. I took another today (for a total of 20mg) because I am having really bad anxiety attacks since this evening (due to stress/being upset).. I tried to sleep and relax but when I woke up, I just felt it right over again.. what should I do??? I mextremely scared right now...

it is high time that you should immediately consult psychiatrist and get yourself checked and have counselling
follow the advice and medicines prescribed should be taken as told
you should be alright with medicines
it is better not to change medicine without doctor's advice
It's two hours since your post and I hope you are feeling better right now. Lexapro is not meant for immediate relief. It works well over a period of time when you take it daily. You can ask your doctor to prescribe a sedative for use when anxiety gets unmanageable. Clonazepam is a good example of a sedative. It works well with acute attacks of anxiety. Avoid changing the Lexapro dose on your own.
If you are hyperventilating, try to regularize your breathing. Also try breathing in and out in a paper bag for a few times. Hope this helps.
