What To Do If Having A Racing Heart After Diagnosed With Afib And Scheduled To Have A Pacemaker?

My normal pulse rate is low 50 s, upper 40 s. Also have afib.. Went into afib today and they shocked me to get it out of afib. My pulse is now 102, at rest. Have an appointment the 19th to have pacemaker put in and to get on meds for the afib. Just feel like my heart is racing again

HI
Thanks for posting your query to Healthcaremagic.

I need to know are you presently on any medications for Afib? If not then better consult your doctor and get it started . Don't wait for the pacemaker insertion because sometimes attacks of Afib can be fatal .

Even you present heart rate is slightly high and feeling like heart is racing may indicate another attack of Afib . If you can't get your doctor's appointment then go to ER and get EKG done and also get medications for Afib started ( preferably a Beta Blocker )

Hope this information was useful to you.
Any clarifications feel free to ask .

Regards.
