What Is The Treatment Of Itchy Rash On Face Of Children ?

My 6 week old baby was given gentamicin and developed a very itchy rash on her face, and she began furtively scratching at her face/head. The rash is now gone but she continues rubbing at her head above her ears. Is it possible she has tinnitus (a possible side effect of the drug)? How could I find out? Thanks

Pediatrician 's  Response
I think you should rule out an ear infection. Tinnitus is seen with higher than usual doses and not with the correct usage of gentamicin. There is, unfortunately, no way to find out if she has tinnitus. She needs a visit to the ENT doctor who is trained to look at small kids.
