What Is The Treatment For Ventricular Tachycardia?

Hi my neice was diagnosed with VT (Ventrialar Tachycardia)and is scared that she may have a heart attack at such a young age (28 years). The doctors prescribed her mediation to treat it, but she has nightmares with the mediation and it will not allow her to rest at night. She has stopped medication and her heartbeat is at 1000 bpm. Is she in danger to have a heart attack because she is not taking her medication? She let her doctor know that she is no longer taking the mediation and the doctor did not say if there was any danger for not taking it. Also what is the Life Span with this kind of illness? Sincerly, a worried aunt.

Ventricular tachycardia comes in many forms. If it is nonsustained, infrequent and no other heart disease was present to cause it, medicine may not be necessary, even if it was causing symptoms. Other forms may require medicine even when the heart appears to be normal. If the doctor didn't caution about stopping medicines then she's probably safe until he or she meets with you again. The questions you need to ask are, is a medicine is necessary? If a medicine is necessary, what alternatives are there?
