What Is The Treatment For Pain Near The Rib Cage?

I have a very sharp pain in my right side near my rib cage. It does not hurt to the touch, it only hurts when I take deep breaths, lay down, move a certain way, or stretch. Also I'm having lower back too. It started last night 12-20-12. Any help. I don't want to go to a hospital for x-rays, but the pain is excrusiating.

Hi,
The pain that you are describing is most likely to be musculoskeletal in origin for which simple analgesics like paracetamol in combination with muscle relaxant like orphenadrine( available in combined pill) should be tried first. A chest X ray would be highly advisable to rule out serious conditions like pnuemothorax, plueral effusion or pnuemonia.
