Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hi,
1. Regarding your thyroid medication, you need to take thyronorm at a dose that can can bring down the TSH to 0.4-3 miu/l range. So if i were your doctor i would have increased your thyronorm dose to 50 mcg. You need to be regular with medications and have to take medications in empty stomach.

2. For weight gain you should get evaluated by a physician or endocrinologist. What i usually do is blood tests (Fasting and postprandial blood glucose, HbA1c,Liver function tests, Cortisol, electrolytes) and an ultrasound abdomen

If you are having simple obesity the treatment options are a) Diet and exercise; if not working b)Medications :like orlistat tablets, if not working c) Bariatric surgery (a laproscopic surgery to decrease weight)

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

With warm regards,
Dr Ajish TP (MD,DM)
