What Is The Remedy For The Constipation For Which Milk Of Magnesia Has Not Helped?

I started a diet that greatly reduced the amount of sugar and carbs in my system. I am eating high fibrous foods instead, and drinking lots of water. I have not had as many bowel movements as usual, and now I feel like there may be a blockage because I m having cramping higher up in my abdomen. I have tried Milk of Magnesia, and this did not help. What should I do now? Is there anything I can try at home?

Hello dear
I understand your concern
Your symptoms could be due to enteropathy, fecoliths obstruction, inadequate fiber intake.
The more the bowel is not emptied the more difficult it becomes to evacuate and causes abdomen cramp

I would suggest to consult the gastroenterologist and undergo stool examination, ultrasound scan of abdomen, colonic transit studies, defecography and colonoscopy examination.

Following advice will help you:
Syrup Lactulose: can be taken up to 30 ml twice a day
Tab bisacodyl at bedtime can useful
Bulking agents like isabgol husk or senna

Lifestyle changes:
Drink one spoon of honey in warm water daily in morning before the bowel movement.
Eat high fiber diet. Every meal should have salads and fruits with skin.
Drink plenty of water daily
Daily evening and morning walk for 30-45 minutes to regularize the bowel movement.
Take more fruits and green leafy vegetables in the diet.
Hope this may help you
