I am 65 years old. I have a congested or clogged nose. Yellow phlegm or mucus comes out. I have to blow the mucus from my nose from time to time.Doctors prescribed clarithromycin and nasal decongestants. I also take sinus tablets. There were reliefs but nasal congestion recurs. What other remedies can you recommend? Please advise me. Thanks.
Hi Sir, all the yellow colour mucus are not due to infections. at the age of 65, the Nasal mucosa over reacts to cold and dust called perennial rhinitis. if it is not cleared the accumulated mucus will turn into yellow. You try to do Normal saline Nasal irrigation or Readily available Nasowash twice daily. You may include low dose antihistamines after early dinner. if all failed you consult ENT surgeon for Steroid intra Nasal sprays. Take care.
