What Is The Remedy For Back Pain Caused By Bending?

I strained my back when picking up something from the lower compartment of the fridge, now my lower back hurt so much that I can't even walk or sit. I took a couple of painkiller but can't do anything. What should I do? How long will it last so I can be back normal. Thank you!

Treatment guidelines for a muscle strain or pull is as follows -
* Adequate rest for a few days
* Ice packing over the affected area once in 2 hours
* Once the acute pain subsides, Moist heat application over the affected muscles
* Gradual & gentle stretching exercises
* analgesic & muscle relaxants as needed
