What Is The Prognosis For A Pregnancy With Diastolic Notch In Uterine Artery?
Hi I am 33 years old 5'2" tall weigh 55.7kgs 14weeks pregnant. I have 8 year old son. It was a normal delivery but had high blood pressure in last 2 months. After that had 3 missed abortion reason unknown & 1 deliberate. Now I am 14 weeks pregnant & NT scan shows high blood flow resistance with early diastolic notch in left uterine artery.
I understand your concern. Please do not worry as this finding is not very significant at 14 weeks. A doppler is not advocated at 14 weeks. In normal pregnancy, the blood vessels begin to relax more in the later part of pregnancy. If this does not occur it is reflected as an increase in notch and decreased flow. This is not expected to occur at 14 weeks so these findings have a higher chance of being false positive. I advice a cautious approach with proper antenatal care at this point of time. Please get a follow up scan after a month to see fetal growth. If it is OK, continue scans every month to keep checking.
A good diet with an egg or some good protein and one fruit every day, rest during the afternoon and plenty of water combined with light exercise like walking create a conducive environment for the growth of the baby. So try these.
Do not worry. Hope this answered your query. Thanks for using HCM, Dr Madhuri Bagde Consultant Ob Gy
