What Is The Probability Of A Benign Colon Hyperplastic Polyp To Get Cancerous In Future?

I recently had a colonoscopy which revealed a small area of erythema in the cecum. Biopsy of this area came back as a hyperplastic polyp. I am concerned as I have researched this and have found that some reports indicate having a hyperplastic polyp on the right side of the colon could be a precursor to colon cancer. My physician states hyperplastic is totally benign, nothing to worry about. I am concerned due to its location and the possibility of future colon cancer. Specific concerns are of the serrated adenoma and the recent research which implies there is a relationship with right sided hyperplastic polyps? My grandfather had colon cancer and my father has had a serrated adenoma on the right side of his colon. Your expertise regarding this would be greatly appreciated.
