What Is The Life Expectancy Of A 82 Year Old Who Had Massive Heart Attack?
my mom just suffered a massive heart attack. she is 82 with cholesterol . the Dr. said she has a lot of build up . and the top portion of her heart was damaged badly. the are going to take her breathing tube out. What are her chances of not pulling threw once it is out.
Very difficult to know with such a scant description. Her mortality risk given age and significant myocardial damage is high, probably in excess of 15%, but again, impossible to determine without all the clinical context. Confounding the picture is that other non-cardiac causes can provoke a patient's demise in such conditions, such as ventilator associated pneumonia and acute renal failure.
Hope this helps, wish you the best,
