What Is The Cause Of Pain In The Throat?

my throat hurts because my tonsils are completely filled with stones. It is EXTREMELY painful now to swallow compared to the first time this happened. I normally get a stone once or twice a month that doesnt really swell or do anything negative to me. Now a while ago i had one that i couldnt get out for like 5 days i did some cocaine and it came right out. should i try this in this bad of a situation im in? i know drugs are bad but coke used to be used medically and i cant go on with this pain for much longer. Ive been to a doctor 4 times for this and nothings helped.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. If you are having too many and frequent tonsiloliths (stone in tonsils), the permanent solution is to get the tonsils removed with surgical procedure.

It seems that you are suffering from severe tonsillitis along with stones which is making swallowing very painful. You can start antibiotic course with that. You can take Azithromycin 500 mg (Azee 500) once a day for 5 days. In addition, you can take Acetaminophen 500 mg or Ibuprofen 400 mg up to thrice a day to control the pain. Warm salt water gargles will help a lot to reduce the swelling of tonsils.

It is true that cocaine was used historically to get relief in pain. But the use has eventually stopped in a way that it is not used anywhere in the world at all. Newer analgesics give pain relief as good as cocaine and even better and they do not cause the fatal side effects that cocaine is tend to cause. Thus, I won't recommend using cocaine for pain relief or any other cause as the mental, physical and social side effects are very dangerous and fatal.

I hope this answer helps you well. Thank you for choosing HCM. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
