General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Your symptoms suggest that the abdominal pain you have has nothing to do with your physical work-outs. The pain in abdomen which you feel as hunger contraction, must be constant pain due to inflamed bowel. The cause of such colitis can be bacterial/viral/parasitic.Scanty loose motion consists of mucus/pus/blood-which forms exudate of the inflammatory process. - maintain fluid levels by taking lot of boiled water with ORT powder . - have light, easy to digest food . Rest is helpful.Anti spasmodic medicines available over the counter mostly control the condition within3-4 days.If the symptoms persist, Microscopic examination of stools are indicated to pin point the causative organism. Please consult a doctor for physical examination. He will then prescribe specific drugs for complete relief. Thanks
