Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is The Cause For Sharp Radiating Pain In Forearm After The Insertion Of Screws?
I had 2 titanium plates and several screws put in forearm almost nine years ago. In the past few weeks, small movements like lifting my hand to type are causing sharp radiating pain through wrist and forearm. Not each and every time-- it s random, but very painful. I m concerned something with the plates has changed or moved -- is that even possible?? Guessing an X-ray or MRI could detect any issues?
I think after nine years plate should not cause such pain. you should get an MRI for cervical spine to check if any nerve compression is the cause of pain. Are you also having weakness in hand also. if MRI is normal and pain is persisting, you can get your plate removed.
