What Is The Cause For Cramos All Over My Body With Muscle Twitching In The Calves And Numbness In The Toes?

I am a male aged 66. I suffer very bad cramps all over my body but particularly in my lower legs and feet. I have tried nearly everything without a lot of success. It is worse about 4am after I have been horizontal for sometime. Also it does seem to be worse when I am constipated and also after ejaculation. With the cramps comes a lot of muscle twitching in the calves and numbness/tingling in the toes which is constant. I have acromegaly though my endo says this is not usually related to the cramping. I was going to try some potassium to see if that helps and was wondering if there could be a problem with the prostate which is moderately enlarged? I found this article on another website Soreness in thighs and legs are caused by the epididymis, the blockage in epididymis compress the nerve system that controls the nerve of the lower limbs, so thighs, legs and foot have tingling sensation and soreness as long as the blockage is still there. This very accurately describes what I am feeling. Appreciate your help (I live in Australia). Alan

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for your query.

Your description suggests that you are getting cramps in the calf muscles. Numbness in toes could be due to nerve compression.Cramps are painful spasms in a muscle and are often caused by overuse, dehydration, or nutritional deficiencies.
Following measure will help-
*Drink fluid-An electrolyte imbalance can be the cause of muscle spasms, so rehydrating with an electrolyte drink can help restore balance.
*Stretch the affected muscle with a mild, static stretch.
*Use ice to numb the pain in a cramp, reducing inflammation and allowing the muscle to relax.
*Bring the affected muscle into a relaxed position and apply direct compression to the cramp.

I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
Take care
