What Is Prognosis For 70% Block In Rca In Chronic Smoker?
Hi.my father is 59 yrs old,he is a chronic smoker, from past 2 3 months his b.p fluctuates more to higher side and he is non diabetic.recently he suffered ant. Inferior wall m.i. Angiography revealed rca block des stent was placed further angiography after 48hrs showed rca n ant. Descending 60 n 70 % block des stents placed again.what is the prognosis?
Hi, Well sorry to hear that. Let me tell you, since these stents (DES) are already in there places, and with no other remaining lesions, the prognosis is better than leaving the lesions unattended. There are chances of Instent thrombosis and Restenosis, but are as low as around 5-7%. There are chances to develop significant stenosis on other sites or vessels, but to tell exactly the chances or time, is like fortune telling, and no one can help with that. But one thing is sure, with follow up and healthy lifestyle modification, and regular medication, its incidence and severity can be reduced, at least by 20% to as high as possible. So need not to worry, Have faith on Almighty.
