What Is A Red Circle On Areola Which Is Rough And Painful To Touch?
HELLO, I JUST TOOK A SHOWER A NOTICED A SMALL RED CIRCLE ON MY AREOLA, THAT WAS DEFINATELY NOT THERE A DAY AGO. I KNOW ITS NOT A PIMPLE IT SEEMS TO LOOK LIKE A MOLE, IT FEELS A LITTLE ROUGH AND HAS A LITTLE PAIN TO THE TOUCH. (THE BEST WAY TO DECRIBE IT MAYBE LIKE IF A PIECE OF SKIN WAS SCRAPED OFF AND NOW IT IS A SCAB) IT IS VERY NOTICABLE WHAT COULD THIS BE? FEELING VERY SCARED.
The possible causes of the small red piece of skin on areola you mentioned are: - Exfoliated dead skin tissue appearing as scab -Any unnoticed small injury or friction of the clothes to local tissue leading to formation of scab. -Rare conditions like eczema, Paget's disease etc.
You can try moisturizer or cream containing vitamin E and alovera, use mild soaps. Ice pack can decrease the pain.
Minor problems can subside with this. If symptoms persist even after that you may need to consult Gynecologist once, get examined and if needed go for sonomammography, with this the possible cause of your problem can be identified and treatment can be taken accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
