Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does This Thyroid Ultrasound Report Indicate?
What does this mean? Thyroid ultrasound result right lobe=4.7x1.9x1.6 cm. Left lobe= 4.2x1.4x1.5cm. Isthmus=0.48 cm thick conclusion noal sized thyroid gland with diffused parwmchymal changes, mildly hypervascularized paremchymal and vague hypoechoic foci bilaterally.no demonstrable enlarged lymph node in both parajugular areas.blood result FT4 RIA 15.558pmol/l normal range 8.8-33,..TSH 2.950 uIU normal range 0.27-3.75
As per my surgical experience, the thyroid ultrasound report indicative of diffuse parenchymal changes might be in concern with underlying viral infection or auto immune disorder causing early thyroiditis changes most likely. As the thyroid hormone profile including that of free T 4 and Thyroid Stimulating Hormone levels are normal, possibility of hypo or hyper-thyroidism is less likely. However, if additional information regarding total White blood cell counts and differential counts of lymphocyte, neutrophils and eosinophils and symptoms of the patient are available, you can be guided further more precisely in this issue.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
