In my peripheral blood film report get now, it says cells are adequate in number showing severe microcytic hypochromic cells showing severe anisopoikilocytosis. mild polychromasia seen. I,m taking iron tablets, vitamin b complex etc for the last 6 weeks. .
hi..welcome to HC magic. severe microcytic hypochromic cells with severe anisopoikilocytosis indicates that you are having severe degree of iron deficiencyanaemia. polychromasia indicates that the iron tablets you are taking is improving your anemic state. so, you will have to take iron tablets for atleast 3 months. get peripheral smear examination done after the course of iron tablets. meanwhile, have nutritious diet especially green leaf vegetables, ragi etc which will help to provide the required iron in your diet.
