What Does Thick Adrenal Glands In MRI Report Suggest?

a friend of mine had an MRI and the result showed that there is thickening of one of the adrenal glands, and some spots in the lumbar spine. My friend had a history of Ca colon which was treated successfully 9 years ago. Could these findings suggest metastasis? Thank you

Welcome to health care magic.

1.Thickening of the adrenal gland can be a benign entity at the same time with the history of the carcinoma colon metastasis can not be ruled out.
2.Regarding the spine you have not clearly mentioned what is pathology - if there are multiple lesions in the vertebral bodies - then its for sure metastasis.
3.At this stage i would recommend to get a chest x-ray and ultrasound abdomen pelvis.
4.That will give a overview of a lungs and chest wall, liver and characterisation of the adrenal thickening. However CECT - contrast enhanced computer tomography is definitive.
5.Even though it was treated well, after a carcinoma - one has to get an early checkup. Suggest followup in future.

Good luck.
