What Does The Cholesterol Test Regarding Heart Disease Indicate?

I'm a 48 yrs old female w/a family history of heart disease. In March of 2011 I was diagnosed w/stage O breast cancer after taking tamoxifen for 4yrs. I stopped taking tamoxifen April 2011. I've been taking thyroid replacement medication for 25 years.

The interpretation of a lipid profile takes into consideration more factors than just numbers from lab values. Today, many factors are considered when deciding whether to treat or not to treat and how to treat a lipidemia problem. First, you have a family history to consider. Looking at your profile numbers your total cholesterol is elevated above the 200 mg/dl cut-off for concern whereas 180 is optimal.
