What Does Semen Analysis Finding Of Occasional Dead Sperms Indicate?
Dear Doctor Raja,
My husand and I went to a gynaec for check up my reports are normal.
My husband did his first semen analysis test and the gynace told they didnt find any sperms... but as per report it says dead sperms found. What does this mean.she didnt explain us further.
Please help me in understanding the below report.
quantity 2.8m
ph 5.0
liquefaction time 60 minutes
sperm count: Occasional dead sperms seen in sediment preparation (reference range 60 to 150 million/ml)
due to the above motility, morphology is shown as zero.
Other observations
Leucocytes 6.8/hpf
RBCs 0-2hpf
Parasite - nil
Epithelial cells 0-2
we will do another test soon but in the mean time please interprate the above for me.
Your husband's semen analysis suggests almost azoospermia(absence of sperm in semen). Normal sperm count should be at least 20 millions/ml.
Besides proper clinical examination,he need proper investigations for azoospermia. It include routine hemogram,RBS,hormone analysis. Azoospermia can be both obstructive or non-obstructive in nature.
It is also important to exclude infection due to presence of WBC in semen. Culture and sensitivity of semen can be done.
Treatment depend upon findings.
Get well soon. Take Care Dr.Indu Bhushan
