What Does My Stool Test Report Indicate?

hello , i recently did a stool routine check and results came out acidic and semi digested in consistency. Everything else says nil. Recently I ve been having mild diarrhoea rather regularly (almost every morning) followed by regular stool In the day and I had observed undigested food ( occasionally red/ orange bits), I thought it was blood and hence went for a routine stool test in the first place. Any advise or inputs?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I have gone through your stool test report and can say as following:
- acidic stool and semi-digested food is due to diarrhea problems you've been facing recently due to fast passage of fecal mass from the stomach to the bowels.

Acute gastroenteritis is mostly caused by virus. It is accompanied by stomach hyperacidity.
However, stomach hyperacidity problems themselves are causing symptoms similar to acute gastroenteritis.

Upper endoscopy is then recommended together with food intolerance test.
Liver/kidney/pancreas function tests are also advised to run to determine the right cause.

After having the results, we can discuss about best treatment strategy.

For the moment, I advise to:
- have frequent meals, with small portions
- avoid those foods that would induce diarrhea and cannot be totally digested
- take antacids after meal
- pancreatic enzymes can help however we should evaluate the pancreatic enzymes in the blood test first

Wish fast recovery.
