Welcome Srinivas! Let me assist you with your lab tests and the guidelines in place for lipid goals:
Total Cholesterol is optimal at 180 mg/dl
Serum Triglycerides: High with goal being less than 150 mg/dl (are you diabetic?)
HDL Cholesterol: Low, shoot for around 50 as this is the protein carrier that removes cholesterol from the blood
LDL Cholesterol: 91.6 goal for diabetics is less than 70, otherwise 100 is goal.
Risk factor? Your Triglycerides, HDL most importantly
This profile increases your risk for
heart disease, formation of plaques in your blood vessels, decrease in control over blood pressure, stroke.
Medicines discuss with doctor. I would choose a
fenofibrate (NOT a statin) and implement an exercise program (cardio/strength), increase soluble fibers (oats, metamucil, starchy beans), decrease meat, eliminate trans fat and cut down on
saturated fat replacing it with
omega-3 fatty acid supplements, the use of virgin olive oil, avocados, canola oil. I would like to see you referred to a Dietitian to put this all together with you.
Plan: Suggest Fenofibrate (doctor), exercise program, Heart Healthy Diet with emphasis on control over Triglycerides.Omega-3 fatty acids.Water soluble fiber.
