What Does Low Grade Glioma From MRI For Brain Tumor Indicate?
Hi. My brother in law has been detected with brain tumor and the IMPRESSION mentioned in MRI is GBM where as the post operative remrks mention as 'Low Grade Glioma'. I need to know what this means and where can i get a second opinion from a neuro pathologist and where can i send the slides for that.

GBM is a type of brain tumor which stands for Glioblastoma Multiforme. It is a very aggressive variety of tumor with poor outcome and needs chemotherapy and radiotherapy in addition to surgery. However, the final diagnosis can only be made after removal. Since the postoperative diagnosis is low grade glioma, it is unlikely to be GBM. However, if you wish to review blocks and slides, you can get them reviewed at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, or at my hospital (Action Cancer Hospital, New Delhi). Low grade glioma is a very less aggressive form of tumor and rarely requires any treatment besides surgery.
